Fields of Law

Here you will find an overview of the fields of law this firm practices.

Tax Law: IRS Case and Controversies

From liens to levies, to the dreaded 30-day notice that people usually like to ignore, this firm is experienced in all areas when it comes to overpayments, underpayments, failure to file, failure to pay, liens, and audits. Attorney Ilena Alvarez spent an additional year after graduating law school in order to earn her LL.M in Tax, or a Masters of Law in Taxation. Along with completing classes, Ms. Alvarez interned with the Mighigan Department of Treasury (the equivalent to Florida's Department of Revenue) where she learned invaluable lessons about tax and the policies that drive the laws we all must abide.

Dealing with the IRS is nerve-wracking and causes emotional and physical stress. We are here to help you unload and let us work on your issues directly with the IRS, so you don't have to. Remember: there is a solution to every problem, but if you ignore the problem, then nothing will be resolved.

Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning

It is always best to be prepared and make sure your wills and trusts are set up correctly, so there is no confusion and all your wishes are carried out as planned. Estate planning for individuals and families is the single most important plan you can put in place in preparation of death, illness, or incapacity. Most people don't think about these things before they happen because lets face it, why would we want to think about horrible things, and especially horrible things happening to us and our loved ones?

This firm takes an open-arms approach to estate planning. We realize that the process of estate planning is a very intimate thing and we strive to make it as comfortable and as open as it needs to be in order to execute the best estate plan for your needs.

Estate planning is certainly not a one-size-fits-all. Everyone's situation is different and the estate plan will be geared towards your financial and familial situation. We have a form that must be filled out and everything we discuss is subject to attorney-client privilege.

If you are curious as to the contents of the estate planning form, please click on the "Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning" tab on the left side of the screen. You can download it and is in a .pdf version.

Business Law

Do you know the difference between an Limited Liability Company and a Corporation? How about the difference between a C Corporation and an S Corporation? Do you know the difference between a Member-Managed and a Manager-Managed LLC? And these questions come after. The first thing that must be settled is what type of entity best fits your business model. What are you trying to protect? Do you have a business that you want passed down to your children? These are all things we navigate in order to provide you with the best structure which will work for you both on the tax side and on the asset protection side.

Other Legal Fields

We will gladly represent you in cases regarding:

  •  Probate
  •  Trust Administration
  •  Evictions

Even though probate and trust administration is not the main focus of this firm, we have extensive knowledge and practice in this area. Plus, it overlaps with estate planning. Knowing the procedures of probate expand our knowledge of what works from an estate planning standpoint.

As far as evictions go, this firm has done several for repeat clients and this firm is well versed in the landlord/tenant laws.
